Dale Van Johnson (born 4 February 1927 and died 19 July 1959) was an American racing driver who competed in the USAC Championship Car series between 1956 and 1959. He attempted to start the 1958 Indianapolis 500, but failed to qualify for the event.
He began racing in the USAC Championship Car series in 1956, but only qualified for 6 races. In 1959, he scored his first and only race victory at Langhorne Speedway. Sadly, a month later, he was killed in a race at Williams Grove Speedway.
On the third lap of the race, Joe Barzda's car suffered a mechanical failure, believed to be a stuck throttle. Barzda crashed into Johnson's car. Barzda suffered only minor injuries, but Johnson died from a skull fracture.
The car that Johnson had been driving had been the one driven by Dick Linder during his fatal accident a few month prior. It was also the car used by Hugh Randall in his fatal accident three years later.
