Lightening McQueen and the F1 ChampionEdit

Hi- Lightening McQueen has arbitrarily decided to list Nico Rosberg as the current F1 champion. I was under the impression that the current champion officially held the title until the prize ceremony in December, and it is way too early in the season for a driver to have clinched the title. Since you are one of the bureaucrats here, could you discuss this with him? Thanks Will49 (talk) 01:06, May 3, 2016 (UTC)

Maybe he got a little overexcited after his 4 wins. I've changed it back to Hamilton. If it gets changed back I'll have a word. On F1 Wiki, the Main Page is unprotected for logged in users, so you can just undo it if it happens again.
Thanks MTracey1 04:34, May 3, 2016 (UTC)
Yeah, but I'm new here, and you guys all seem like you know each other, so I'm trying to tread lightly.Will49 (talk) 07:21, May 3, 2016 (UTC)
Don't worry about treading lightly, if you do something that's not quite right, the admins can easily fix it. If there's something you can't do but want to, ask any admin and we'll try to help. As long as an edit is made in good faith, it will be taken positively. MTracey1 07:27, May 3, 2016 (UTC)
I'm sorry, I didn't realise. It was because I thought it meant the driver who is literally the current champion of 2016, obviously being Rosberg at the moment, not Hamilton. --Lightening McQueen (talk) 07:16, May 4, 2016 (UTC)

Deducted Racing Point points Edit

I think I really need your help here. As most of us know, Racing Point were recently fined 15 points in the 2020 constructors standings for copying Mercedes' brake ducts from 2019, but their drivers still keep their points in the driver standings. However, the coding in the templates for the results of each team seems so complicated for me to update them with the loss of Racing Point's 15 points but make sure they don't mess up the templates. I know I once did extra boxes for the 2018 templates so then for the constructors, they had an extra "1" added next to "Force India", but I'm wondering if we should put in brackets with Racing Point's original collection of points like Wikipedia has currently done? Please let me know what you think as soon as possible. I'm just still new to editing the templates in those kinds of situations. --Lightening McQueen (talk) 12:20, August 9, 2020 (UTC)

I think I built in something to do this already. Let me take a look MTracey1 13:01, August 9, 2020 (UTC)
Done. My original solution (which I coded years ago) is not built for negative numbers so I had to tweak it. If you look on Template:Career Results/Points/2020 you'll see the deduction at the bottom (in case it gets appealed). Let me know if you see any side-effects of this change anywhere on the wiki and I'll try to fix them. MTracey1 13:28, August 9, 2020 (UTC)
Thanks so much! I can see it's displayed now! Guess I should've asked sooner back in 2018, but hey, that doesn't matter. --Lightening McQueen (talk) 22:15, August 9, 2020 (UTC)
