Ukyo Katayama is a retired Japanese Formula One driver who competed in the sport between 1992 and 1997, driving for Larrousse, Tyrrell and Minardi.
Being a full-season-driver for Tyrrell in 1993, he was also testing for Footwork.
During the 1995 Portuguese Grand Prix, Katayama was involved in a horrible crash at the start of the race. He was injured and missed the next race and was replaced by Gabriele Tarquini until he returned back at the next race at Okayama.
His best finish were two 5th places in 1994 at Brazil and San Marino.
