The Toyota TF104 was a car designed by Toyota Racing for the 2004 Formula One season. It was driven by Cristiano da Matta and Olivier Panis at the start of the season. Midway through the season, two other drivers, Ricardo Zonta (the team's test driver) and Jarno Trulli, drove for the team.
A B-spec version of the car was introduced at the German Grand Prix. Despite the race drivers using the B-spec version of the car, the third driver of the team used the A-spec version of the car.
Season review[]
The performance of the TF104 was considered to be a disaster for the team. The car only secured 8th place in the Constructors' Championship with only 9 points.
In Canada, both Toyotas, who finished 8th (da Matta) and 10th (Panis), had been excluded from the race results (along with Williams) due to an irregularity in the brake ducts.
In Japan, Panis announced his retirement from racing at the age of 37. He was replaced by Zonta for the last race of the season.
