The Official Timekeeper of F1 is the company responsible for managing the race timings for each session and race weekend. These are most commonly technology companies or watchmakers.

History[]

Rolex, official timekeeper from 2013 to 2024, had pit lane clocks at all F1 tracks.

Rolex, official timekeeper from 2013 to 2024, had pit lane clocks at all F1 tracks.

Four companies have been the Official Timekeeper since the role was first introduced in 1992: TAG Heuer from 1992 to 2003, as well as from 2025 onwards[1], Siemens from 2004 to 2007, LG from 2008 to 2012 and Rolex from 2013 to 2024. The timekeeper's logo appears next to timing graphics, and recently, next to the countdown cards on F1.com.

The official timekeeper may also sponsor other F1 teams or the F1 races themselves. For example, Rolex was the title sponsor of the Australian Grand Prix in 2023 and 2024. TAG Heuer has also sponsored various teams, such as Scuderia Ferrari in 1971, McLaren from 1986 to 2015, and currently Red Bull Racing.
