Stephen South (born February 19 1952 in Harrow, Middlesex) is a retired Formula One driver and 1977 British Formula Three champion. South represented McLaren during the 1980 Formula One Season, driving the number 8 car in the absence due to injury of Alain Prost at the United States Grand Prix West. South, however, failed to qualify for what was to be his only F1 Grand Prix.

Later in 1980, while practicing for the Trois-Rivières race of the 1980 Can-Am Season, South was badly injured in an accident which lead to the partial amputation of his leg, forcing the driver's retirement from the sport.
