Slim Borgüdd lead a fascinating life, he was not only the only driver in history to win points on Avon Tyres, but he was also a Drummer in the famous Swedish Group ABBA. In addition to his fame he was also the pioneer for the paddle-shift gear changer. When he took a famous F1 engineer around in a race truck, that he had adapted with the now ubiquitous paddle shifters. A paddle shifter based on Slims design, was found in the teams F1 car the following year. He passed away on the 23rd of February 2023 at the age of 76 surrounded by loved ones. Known to his friends simply as Slim, he was described as a kind hearted individual who would go to any length to help anyone he would call a friend.
