Simtek (Simulation Technology) was a British Formula One constructor that competed in the 1994 and 1995 seasons, with little success. It was founded in August 1989 by Nick Wirth and Max Mosley.
The team's first season at the top level of motorsport was overshadowed by the death of their driver Roland Ratzenberger, at the infamous 1994 San Marino Grand Prix. David Brabham raced on in tribute to Ratzenberger.
Ratzenberger's seat was taken by Andrea Montermini, then Jean-Marc Gounon, Domenico Schiattarella and finally, Taki Inoue for a one-off before Schiattarella returned for the season finale in Australia.
For the 1995 season, they fielded drivers Domenico Schiattarella and Jos Verstappen. The team withdrew from Formula One after just five races into 1995, and went bankrupt.
