Saudi Arabia, officially as the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is a country in Western Asia constituting the vast majority of the Arabian Peninsula. It is bordered by Jordan and Iraq to the north, Kuwait to the northeast, Qatar, Bahrain, and the United Arab Emirates to the east, Oman to the southeast and Yemen to the south; it is separated from Egypt and Israel in the north-west by the Gulf of Aqaba.
Saudi Arabia was the site of several ancient cultures and civilizations, including the origin of the religion of Islam. It is currently the world's largest oil exporter, but the country has been subject to a number of controversies, particularly its reputation on human rights, characterized by the lack of women's rights, excessive use of capital punishment and its strict interpretation of the Shari'a Law.
Saudi Arabia is due to host the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix for the first time in 2021, in the form of a temporary street circuit in the city of Jeddah. State petroleum company, Aramco, became a major sponsor of Formula One since 2020.
