The Sauber C16 was a Formula One car designed by Sauber for the 1997 Formula One Season. The car was powered by a Petronas SPE-01, which was a Ferrari F310 that had been rebadged as a Petronas.

The first car was driven by Johnny Herbert. At the start of the season, the second car was driven by Ferrari test driver Nicola Larini as part of an agreement between Sauber and Ferrari. However, Larini quit after just five races.

Fellow Italian driver Gianni Morbidelli was contracted to replace Larini in the second car, although he was replaced for four races by rookie Norberto Fontana after breaking his arm twice at two different test sessions during the season.

The car was competitive, although lost some performance over rivals later in the season as Sauber lacked resources for in-season development. The car's highest result was a 3rd place finish for Herbert at the 1997 Hungarian Grand Prix.
