The Red Bull RB13 was a car that the Red Bull Racing team participated in the 2017 Formula One season. It was driven by Aussie Daniel Ricciardo and Dutchman Max Verstappen.

The car was launched with the slogan 'Unlucky for some' which was a joke on the number 13. However, their slogan backfired, as the car wasn't as competitive as last year's car, and suffered major breakdowns. Both Verstappen and Ricciardo had 6 races ending in DNF's thanks to all sort of mechanical issues, some related to the Renault-powered, which the relationship with the team and its French engine supplier. More often than they wanted, the car would start down the order from where thye

Overall, the car was the third best car in the season with some tracks suiting it better making it second fastest or even fastest of all. The team achieved 3 victories and reaching 13 podium spots, gathering 368 points in the process, which positioned Red Bull in third place at the constructor's standings. The drivers Ricciardo and Verstappen would respectively finish 5th and 6th in the standings, with Ricciardo losing out to Raikkönen for 4th place by only 5 points thanks to 3 non-finishes in the final 4 races.

Daniel Ricciardo's RedBull RB13 coming to a standstill near the spectator's wall, after an issue shut the car down.

The home GP of Daniel Ricciardo was not a great start for him. The RedBull team said their package had a serious lack of downforce compared to the two other top teams, Mercedes AMG Petronas and Scuderia Ferrari, and their engine was not on the same level either. Worse than that, Ricciardo was plagued with several malfunctions troughout the weekend, which saw him start the race from the pitlane very late in the race, being several laps down, but they tried anyways. However the problem wasn't solved and he had to park it on the grass, and he retired.

Verstappen's main rival seemed to be Kimi Raikkönen in the other Ferrari, but Verstappen ultimately had to see the quickest lap go to the Finnish driver. However he played a key part in Ferrari's strategy to win the race, as Mercedes pitted Hamilton way earlier than Sebastian Vettel. When Hamilton caught Verstappen, he wasn't able to stay close for long, as the dirty air hindered him. Vettel would pit 4 laps later to stay just in front of Max, who tried to attack Seb by moving alonside on the outside, but Seb could easily hold him off.

Because he could not do better than 5th, the maximum with the material he had, Verstappen asked his engineer what the fastest lap was. In a humorous way, he replied: "Too fast".

Belgian GP[]

Verstappen retired with another issue, which gave us the image of the season for Verstappen, lots of disappointment and a Jos Verstappen looking on in the garage, shaking his head. He was very disapleased, wondering if Max should stay at Red Bull. Similiarly, thousands of Dutch supporters dressed in orange were left wondering where their money went and many of them left the race spectacle early after their hero had to park on the side of the Kemmel Straight.

Ricciardo's race was better, and he made good use of the safety car restart to pass the struggling Valtteri Bottas for third place, and defending Kimi Raikkönen who took the fourth place from Bottas on the inside of both cars, in a similar fashion like Hakkinnen did on Schumacher in 2000. Ricciardo went on to finish third and he gave Red Bull their 5th podium in a row.

2017 Malaysian Grand Prix Netherlands Max Verstappen Verstappen started in a nice third position, and profitted from Raikkönen not being able to start. What was effectively a second place, he beat Ricciardo at the start and later attacked Hamilton to pass him for the lead, which he held on.
2017 Mexican Grand Prix Netherlands Max Verstappen Verstappen started in second but immediatly put pressure on Vettel, squeezing through and seizing the lead when the title rivals had a coming together right after that. His pace was great, making a huge gap to second man Valterri Bottas.
