Paolo Barilla is a former Formula 1 driver from Italy, who drove for Minardi in 1989 and 1990. He made his Grand Prix debut filling in for the injured Pierlugi Martini at Suzuka in 1989, before earning the drive full time for the following year as Martini's teammate. He endured a poor season however, and was replaced by Gianni Morbidelli mid season following three consecutive failures to qualify
