The McLaren M29 was the car used by McLaren from midway through the 1979 season, until Round 5 of 1981. It performed poorly, failing to achieve a single podium in that time, with a best finish of fourth being achieved three times by John Watson.

It was upgraded to the M29B and M29C in 1980, and in 1981 was known as the M29F. It is notable for being the car that four time World Champion Alain Prost made his debut in at the 1980 Argentine Grand Prix.
