Max Rufus Mosley (13 April 1940 - 23 May 2021) was the president of the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile from 1993 until 2009, preceded by Jean-Marie Balestre and succeeded by Jean Todt. He was the second Briton to hold the role, the first being Wilfrid Andrews.
Beforehand, he was a former driver, who participated in one non-championship race; the 1969 Madrid Grand Prix in a non-works Lotus. He retired on lap 14 with a mechanical problem.
Max Mosley died on 23 May 2021 at the age of 81 after battling cancer, with the news being confirmed by Bernie Ecclestone. On March 29 2022, an official inquest into his death confirmed he had been found with a fatal gunshot wound to his head. His death was ruled a suicide, likely prompted by negative news about his cancer prognosis.
