The Marussia MR03 was a car designed by Marussia for the 2014 Formula One season. It was Marussia's first turbo-powered car and was fitted with a Ferrari engine. It was driven by Jules Bianchi until his accident at the 2014 Japanese Grand Prix, and Max Chilton until the following race in Russia. Following the Russian Grand Prix, the team entered administration and withdrew from the remaining races. It was then reused for the 2015 season, with all the changes required for use in the season, and was called the MR03B. Although the car failed to be used in Australia, due to software issues,[1] the two drivers of Marussia for 2015, Will Stevens and Roberto Merhi, were able to use it in the rest of the season, starting from Malaysia. Merhi was replaced by Alexander Rossi for Singapore, Japan, the United States, Mexico and Brazil.[2]

At the 2014 Monaco Grand Prix, Bianchi secured the team's highest finishing position and first World Championship points by finishing 9th in the MR03.

Season review[]

2014[]

Marussia started off their 2014 season at the Australian Grand Prix, with Chilton qualifying 17th ahead of his team-mate Bianchi, who qualified 18th. However, before the start of the race, Chilton stalled his car at the beginning of the formation lap, and after the formation lap, Bianchi's car began to stall, and it resulted with another formation lap. Chilton went on to finish 13th and last, meanwhile Bianchi was not classified because he did not complete 90% of the race distance.

The next round at Malaysia was another average weekend for the team. Bianchi was involved in a collision with Lotus' Pastor Maldonado on the start of the race, eventually retiring on lap 8 with a brake failure. Chilton finished 15th, behind the two Caterhams. Bianchi received two penalty points post-race.
