Martin Richard Whitmarsh is a British businessman who was employed by McLaren Racing from 1989 to 2013. He was the CEO from 2004 and Team Principal from 2009 until being replace in both roles by Ron Dennis and Eric Boullier respectively in 2013. Whitmarsh has worked for the McLaren Formula One team from 1989 until 2013 where he was originally assigned the role of Head of Operations. Whitmarsh was promoted to Managing Director in 1997 before taking on the role of CEO in 2004. From 2009, Whitmarsh also held the position of Team Principal of the McLaren team. Aside from working at McLaren, Whitmarsh was also the chairman of the Formula One Teams Association until its dissolution in 2014.
