The Manor MRT05 is a car designed by Manor for the 2016 Formula One season. The "MRT" car name stands for Manor Racing Team, and the number 5 designates that it is their 5th chassis to be designed since 2012 as Marussia F1 Team. The car was unveiled in a red-orange and blue livery, with only two sponsors Pertamina (Rio Haryanto's sponsor) and Shazam.

During the season, the team acquired more sponsors to their car.

Season review[]

The Australian Grand Prix was the first round of the season for the new Manor team. Both Manors qualified on the last row of the grid, with Haryanto 21st and Wehrlein 22nd. Haryanto retired from a mechanical failure on his car under red flags, and Wehrlein went on to finish 16th and last.

At the Russian Grand Prix, Haryanto was involved in a multi-car collision with Nico Hülkenberg and Esteban Gutiérrez into Turn 1 at the start of the race. Wehrlein finished 18th and last in the race, being lapped two times by the race winner.

At the Austrian Grand Prix, Wehrlein qualified a season-best 12th, the first time the team reached the second part of qualifying since the 2014 Belgian Grand Prix. During the race, he fell down the order after the safety car period. However, he pitted for a soft compound tyre, and was closing in on Williams's Valtteri Bottas, when suddenly Sergio Pérez of Force India crashed out due to a brake failure, elevating both of them a place. It resulted in Wehrlein finishing 10th and scored the team's first points by finishing 10th since the 2014 Monaco Grand Prix.

After the German Grand Prix, Rio Haryanto was demoted to reserve driver status, and he was replaced by French rookie Esteban Ocon for the rest of the season.
