John Cooper Fitch (August 4, 1917 - October 31, 2012) was an American racing driver and inventor. After the Le Mans disaster of 1955 (which he was an eyewitness to), Fitch became a safety advocate and founded the driver safety company Impact Attenuation Inc. He also managed the Chevrolet Trans-Am team for a while, and was the managing director for the Lime Rock Park race track for a number of years. He was often seen at historic events, even into his 90s.
He entered the Italian Grand Prix in 1953 and 1955, with him retiring in his first attempt and finishing 9th in his second.
