The Hanoi Street Circuit (Vietnamese: Đường đua phố Hà Nội), located in Hanoi, Vietnam, is a motor racing venue set to host the 2020 Vietnamese Grand Prix as part of the 2020 FIA Formula One World Championship.[1] Designed and developed by Hermann Tilke, the Hanoi Circuit will measure 5.607 km/3.458 miles long with 23 corners, and will be the first Vietnamese circuit to host a Formula One race.[1]

History

The idea of a Formula 1 race in Viet Nam was first explored by Bernie Ecclestone, but the number of races in the far east, and the failure of the races in India and South Korea caused Ecclestone to drop the concept.

After the demise of the Malaysian Grand Prix, new F1 owners Liberty Media reopened discussions with officials in Hanoi, exploring the possibility of a race in the capital.

Layout

The track is in the Nam Tu Liem district, in the western capital metro. It is adjacent to the My Dinh National Stadium, and is a hybrid street circuit and purpose built track.
