Germany is a country in Europe consisting of 16 states. It first participated in Formula One by hosting the first German Grand Prix in 1951 . Since then, the German Grand Prix has been held at Nürburgring and Hockenheimring (alternating years between 2008 and 2014) , with a single appearance at AVUS in 1959.
The first German world champion was Michael Schumacher in 1994 .
