George Lynch (born 20 June 1918 and died 6 May 1997) was an American racing driver who participated in the Indianapolis 500. Having crashed out on the second lap the year prior, he unsuccessfully attempted to qualify for the 1950 and 1951 Indianapolis 500.

He began his racing career using an open-wheel car he purchased for $100. He didn't even have a regular driver's licence at that time. His racing career was briefly halted in 1944 when he enlisted in the United States Army until he was honourably discharged in 1946.

At the 1949 Indianapolis 500, he qualified 8th on the grid, but crashed in the first corner on the second lap. Footage of the accident was used in the 1949 film The Big Wheel staring Mickey Rooney.

He continued racing until he retired in 1957.
