Franz Tost (born in Trins on January 20, 1956) is an Austrian sports director who currently holds the position of team principal of Scuderia AlphaTauri since 2020.
A former Formula Ford driver, he joined Willi Weber and followed the early career of Ralf Schumacher. He was track director for BMW when Ralf was racing for the Williams team. He remained there until the end of 2005 when he was hired to be team principal of Scuderia Toro Rosso (now Scuderia AlphaTauri) starting with the 2006 season.
On April 26, 2023, it was announced that Tost would leave his role as AlphaTauri crew chief at the end of the 2023 season and, that he would be replaced by Laurent Mekies. Tost has spent 18 years in the role.
