Northern Ireland[]
The idea that there is no "official" flag for Northern Ireland is misleading and propaganda, I'm afraid.
The flag still exists and is the only flag which uniquely and specifically identifies Northern Ireland. It shares the exact same 'official' status as both the flag of England (which also has no 'official' status) and the flag of Scotland (though that may have changed through legislation mentioning it in the Scottish Parliament in recent years).
The ONLY one of the four flags that really has 'official' status is the flag of Wales, which entered legislation in 1959.
So yeah - technically speaking, the Northern Irish flag is not "official".
But then, neither are the flags of England and Scotland.

- Ok, you might think that is true, but according to this, there is no official flag other than the Union Flag. I quote; "The Ulster flag and the Cross of St. Patrick have no official status and under the Flags Regulations are not permitted to be flown from Government Buildings" – and while I understand that those words do not specifically govern the usage of the flag, I'm pretty sure a country should be able to fly its own flag on its own government, but no, there are two and I'm don't which own actually mean (though I assume the Ulster Banner). Also, the flag will also be use for historical purposes – so if we need to display stuff relating to Northern Ireland from 1953 to 1972, the Ulster Banner will need to be uploaded.
- But for now, I don't think its upload will be necessary, especially since drivers from Northern Ireland race under the British flag anyway. —Gyaro–Maguus— 13:39, August 1, 2014 (UTC)
- What is the point of starting this debate? This is a Formula One wiki, our concerns are set primarily focussed on national flags, a Northern Irish flag has no real relevance on this wiki regardless of its 'official status' nor do the Scottish or English flags. If this is a topic that concerns you I suggest you take it elsewhere. The idea that you accuse the page of propaganda is completely absurd.

- I really don't know what purpose this debate serves. If he was from Northern Ireland or the Republic of Ireland, I'd understand, but the WHOIS data states he is in the USA so I'm surprised he feels this way (unless he is of Irish origin). And you are correct, 'official status' of the flags of the constituent countries of the United Kingdom is actually completely irrelevant to us since their only purpose to make it easier on the eyes on viewers (e.g. the Scottish Flag for the Scottish Grand Prix). —Gyaro–Maguus— 11:14, August 2, 2014 (UTC)
