The Ferrari F310 (codenamed Ferrari 648) was a car designed by Ferrari for the 1996 and 1997 Formula One seasons. It was driven by 1995 World Champion Michael Schumacher and Jordan driver Eddie Irvine.
F310[]
The name F310 refers to the engine type: a 3 litre and 10 cylinder (V10) Ferrari engine. The team had to use parts from the 1995 Ferrari 412T2, especially the low nose. At the Canadian Grand Prix, Ferrari eventually adopted the high nose for the F310.
The F310 was proven to be a front-running car, but without the outright pace and superb reliability, which led to the Williams FW18 dominating the entire 1996 season. Michael Schumacher secured three Grand Prix wins, but Eddie Irvine had a run of eight consecutive retirements from Spain to Italy.
F310B[]
For the 1997 season, the F310 was updated to a B-spec version of the car, called the Ferrari F310B.
