Eduardo Freitas (born 27 October 1961) is a Portuguese race director with over 20 years of experience. He was the FIA Formula One Race Director, Safety Delegate, Permanent Starter and head of the F1 Technical Department since the departure of Michael Masi. Like Masi, Freitas was tasked with managing the logistics of each F1 Grand Prix, inspecting cars in parc fermé before a race, enforcing FIA rules, and controlling the lights that start each race. His role was shared with Niels Wittich, on an alternating basis. Herbie Blash, former deputy race director under Charlie Whiting, assisted Freitas and Wittich in a senior advisory role.
Freitas previously held the position of race director for FIA WEC and Gran Turismo, 24 Hours of Le Mans, ELMS, ETCC, and Asian LMS from 2002 to 2022.
