Edward Julius "Eddie" Sachs, Jr. was a driver from the United States. Dubbed the "Clown Prince of Auto Racing", he competed in the Indianapolis 500 for eight consecutive years, 1957-64. By taking the pole in the 1960 race, he is listed as having a pole position in Formula One. But his only victory at Indianapolis was in 1961, after the FIA stopped awarding points for the race.
Sachs was killed in a fiery seven car accident on the second lap of the 1964 Indianapolis 500, which also claimed the life of Indy 500 rookie Dave MacDonald.
