Cyril François Roger Abiteboul (born 14 October 1977 in Paris, Île-de-France, France) is a French motor racing engineer and manager who has most notably served as both the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and the Team Principal of Caterham. Abiteboul is currently the Managing Director of Renault's Formula One operations.
Career[]
Cyril Abiteboul was educated in Paris in his French homeland, studying at the prestigous Lycée Carnot and Lycée Chaptal schools before going into tertiary education at the Ecole Nationale Superieure d’Informatique Mathématiques Appliquées. Abiteboul graduated in 2001 and quickly joined the Renault operations in Formula One as an engineer.
In 2007, Abiteboul was promoted to the Business Development Manager of the Renault F1 Team. He continued in this role until May 2010 when he became the Executive Director of the team. In 2011, Abiteboul became the Deputy Managing Director of Renault's F1 activities, however in September 2012 he left this role to become the Caterham CEO in 2012, and Team Principal in 2013. On both occasions he succeeded Tony Fernandes. In 2014, upon the takeover by a Swiss and Middle Eastern consortium, Abiteboul left the team.
Upon his departure from Caterham, Abiteboul returned to Renault as the new Managing Director of their F1 activities.
