The Bridgestone Corporation (株式会社ブリヂストン Kabushiki-gaisha Burijisuton) is a multinational rubber congomerate that was founded in 1931 by Shojiro Ishibashi (石橋正二郎 Ishibashi Shōjirō) in the city of Kumume, Fukuoka, Japan. Ishibashi named his company "Bridgestone" due to it being a literal translation of his last name. They are known in Formula One for providing tyres from 1997 to 2010 (and two races in the latter half of the 1970s), winning 175 races (116 as the sole supplier). Their association with Ferrari led the Scuderia to six consectutive titles.
