The Brazilian Grand Prix (Portuguese: Grande Prêmio do Brasil) is a Formula One championship race which is currently held at Autódromo José Carlos Pace in São Paulo. In 2021, it was renamed to São Paulo Grand Prix.

Origin[]
Motor racing started in Brazil around 1934 before World War II, at the Gávea Circuit near Rio de Janeiro. The construction of the Interlagos circuit began in 1936. The first motor race which took place at the new circuit was a stock car type-touring race.

The first Brazilian Grand Prix was held in 1972 at Interlagos, but that was a non-championship event.
The next year, the Brazilian GP became the new championship round. The first winner of Brazilian GP was São Paulo native, Emerson Fittipaldi. The following year, Fittipaldi won again at Interlagos. In 1976, the other Brazilian, Carlos Pace won the Brazilian GP. The drivers began complaining the circuit in 1977 when Reutemann won the race. Because that, the race relocated to Jacarepagua.
