Bill Schindler (born 6 March 1909 and died 20 September 1952) was an American racing driver who participated in the AAA Championship Car series between 1950 and 1952. His results in the Indianapolis 500 were counted towards the Formula One championship, although he scored no points. He is one of only three drivers to race in the Indianapolis 500 with a prosthetic leg, having lost his left leg in a racing accident in 1936.
Schindler began racing in 1931 in a sprint car and also started racing midget cars a few years later. He was elected president of the American Racing Drivers Club when it was organized in 1939, a position he held until 1947.
In 1950, he joined the AAA Championship Car series so that he could participated in the Indianapolis 500. He made his debut at the 1950 Indianapolis 500, but he only managed to finish the race distance once at the 1952 Indianapolis 500.
While leading a sprint car race in Allentown, Pennsylvania, Schindler was killed in a crash after striking a loose tyre from another car. His car crashed through a fence and rolled down an embankment, crashing into a concession stand and injuring a spectator.
