Bernd Rosemeyer (October 14, 1909 – January 28, 1938) was a German racing driver, known for his appearances in the European Championship, which he won in 1936. He was the husband of woman aviator Elly Beinhorn, whom he first met on the podium at the Brno Masaryk Circuit in 1935. They married on July 13, 1936. Rosemeyer considered 13 to be his lucky number.
Rosemeyer was killed on January 28, 1938, aged just 28, in a land speed record attempt on the Autobahn between Frankfurt and Darmstadt. After passing a hill, a gust of wind lifted his car into some trees.
