Argentina is a country in southern South America, occupying about 1/6 of the continent. It is the largest Spanish-speaking country by area in the world, and its population is over 40,000,000.

The Argentine Grand Prix was held occasionally as part of the Formula One World Championship, the last being held in 1998. Juan Manuel Fangio is regarded as the most successful Argentinian driver, having won five world championship titles and being the only one to win his home grand prix. The last Argentine to have raced in F1 was Gastón Mazzacane, driving for Minardi and Prost in 2000 and 2001 respectively.
