Report[]

Oscar Piastri started the race from pole position, having set a new qualifying record with a time of 1:08.662. The McLaren driver went on to deliver a dominant performance, securing his seventh victory of the season. In doing so, he achieved a rare grand chelem, taking pole, the fastest lap, the race win, and leading every lap. Piastri’s victory allowed him to extend his lead in the Drivers’ Championship to 34 points ahead of his teammate Lando Norris.

Max Verstappen finished second, much to the delight of the home crowd, giving Red Bull a much-needed podium. The race also marked a career milestone for rookie Isack Hadjar, who scored his maiden Formula One podium by finishing third for Racing Bulls. Hadjar’s result was widely celebrated within the paddock as one of the most memorable moments of the season.

The Grand Prix was marked by significant drama. Norris, who had been running strongly in second place and looked set to limit the damage to his championship fight, was forced to retire on lap 66 when smoke appeared inside his cockpit. Ferrari endured a disastrous afternoon, with Lewis Hamilton crashing at Turn 3 on lap 23 and Charles Leclerc later colliding with Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli, resulting in double retirement for the Scuderia. Despite light threats of rain, the race remained dry throughout.

Behind the top three finishers, George Russell claimed fourth place for Mercedes, while Alex Albon secured a strong fifth position for Williams. Oliver Bearman also impressed, taking sixth place for Haas, continuing his steady rise in his rookie season.

The outcome of the race had significant implications for the World Championship standings. Piastri’s win gave him a commanding points advantage over Norris, dramatically shifting the balance of the title battle in his favour as the season entered its final third. In the Constructors’ Championship, McLaren consolidated its lead, pulling further clear of Red Bull and Ferrari.
