The 2023 Italian Grand Prix (officially the Formula 1 Pirelli Gran Premio d’Italia 2023) was the fifteenth round of the 2023 FIA Formula One World Championship, held at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza on the weekend of September 1 to September 3 2023.

Background[]

The event was held across the weekend of 1–3 September. It was the fourteenth round of the 2023 Formula One World Championship and the 93rd running of the Italian Grand Prix.[1]

Championship standings before the race[]

Coming into the weekend, Max Verstappen lead the Drivers' Championship by 138 points from teammate Sergio Pérez, with Fernando Alonso third, a further 33 points behind. Red Bull Racing lead the Constructors' Championship, leading Mercedes by 285 points and Aston Martin by a further 40 points.[2]

Entrants[]

Both entries for drivers and teams were unchanged from the Dutch Grand Prix.[3] Thus, the only change from the start of the season was the replacement of Nyck de Vries at AlphaTauri from the Hungarian Grand Prix onwards[4] by Daniel Ricciardo. However, after an injury during the second practice session of the preceding Dutch Grand Prix, Ricciardo was again substituted by Liam Lawson[5]. Felipe Drugovich drove for Aston Martin in place of Lance Stroll during the first practice session.[6]
