The 2019 French Grand Prix (officially the Formula 1 Pirelli Grand Prix de France 2019)[1] was the eighth race of the 2019 Formula One season, the fifth-ninth time the French Grand Prix was held on the Formula One calendar, and the sixteenth time it was held at the Circuit Paul Ricard. It was held between 21 June and 23 June 2019.

In qualifying, Lewis Hamilton took his eighty-sixth pole position, ahead of Valtteri Bottas and Charles Leclerc. After abandoning his first lap in Q3, Sebastian Vettel could only manage seventh on the grid after setting a lap time at the end of the session.

In the race, Hamilton kept his lead while Max Verstappen failed to successfully overtake Leclerc. Hamilton led every lap and take his seventy-ninth victory, although he was denied of a Grand Chelem when Sebastian Vettel took the fastest lap on the final lap. Around the same time, Daniel Ricciardo attempted to pass Lando Norris, who was suffering from a hydraulics issue, but went off the track at Turn 8 and rejoined in an unsafe manner, forcing Norris off the track and dropping them both behind Kimi Räikkönen. Ricciardo then went off the track to pass Räikkönen and take seventh, while Norris lost another place to Nico Hülkenberg. Ricciardo was soon to be given two five-second penalties for both incidents, and was demoted to eleventh place behind Räikkönen, Hülkenberg, Norris and Pierre Gasly.
