The 2015 Austrian Grand Prix (officially the Formula 1 Grosser Preis von Österreich 2015)[1] was the eighth race of the 2015 Formula One season. This was the 2nd time the Austrian Grand Prix has been held since 2003, and the 29th running of the Austrian Grand Prix in Formula One. It was held between 19 June and 21 June 2015.

Background[]

Heading into Austria, Lewis Hamilton held a seventeen-point lead in the drivers' championship from teammate Nico Rosberg. Sebastian Vettel is in third, 43 points behind the championship leader. While in the constructors championship, Mercedes holds a 105-point lead from Ferrari.

The Grand Prix used soft and super soft tyres.[2]

Jolyon Palmer also took part in the first practice session.[3]

Because of the circuit's nature, several of the teams made updates on their power units and chassis.[4][5][6]
