The 1988 Benetton season was Benetton's 3rd season as a constructor. In a McLaren-dominated season their drivers were to finish 4th and 10th respectively. Thierry Boutsen, the better placed of the team, was a regular podium finisher whilst Alessandro Nannini had two other podiums.
However, one of Boutsen's podiums had been eliminated, which happened to be at his home race in Belgium, after both drivers were excluded for irregular fuel.
Race-by-race[]

Mexican Grand Prix[]
Nannini and Boutsen finished out of the points in seventh and eighth respectively
Canadian Grand Prix[]
Boutsen gave Benetton their first podium of the year by finishing in 3rd behind Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost.
Detroit Grand Prix[]
For the second successive race, Boutsen finished on the podium in a repeat of the previous race's podium.
French Grand Prix[]
British Grand Prix[]
German Grand Prix[]
Hungarian Grand Prix[]
Belgian Grand Prix[]
When it looked that Boutsen had scored his fourth third place finish of the season, Boutsen was controversially stripped of a home race podium at this race when both Benettons were disqualified for using irregular fuel and Nannini was stripped of championship points too, but it made no difference to the drivers or teams championship.
Italian Grand Prix[]
After their previous race was ruined by disqualification, Boutsen returned to the points at this race finishing sixth whilst Nannini was ninth.
