The 1971 Spanish Grand Prix was held on April 18, at the Montjuic circuit in Barcelona. Jackie Stewart in a Tyrrell-Ford bested Jacky Ickx's Ferrari in a close duel, despite Ickx starting on pole and recording the fastest lap. Chris Amon in a Matra drove a solid race for third place.
