The 1970 Austrian Grand Prix was held on August 16. The Ferraris of Jacky Ickx and Clay Regazzoni stampeded to a dominating 1-2 finish after championship leader Jochen Rindt's engine broke. Brabham driver Rolf Stommelen was the only other driver to finish on the lead lap in a race that resoundingly demonstrated the Ferrari's superiority.
