Background[]
Plans for Jarama to hold a full F1 non-championship race fell through, as the date conflicted with an F2 race at Hockenheimring and a 1,000km sports car race at Brands Hatch. So instead the organizers opened the event to Formula 2 and Formula 5000 cars. Even so, only eight cars arrived, none of whom were from regular F1 teams. But those in attendance were determined to have a fun weekend in the spring sunshine.
