The 1956 Belgian Grand Prix was the fourth race of the season. The race was won by Peter Collins in a Ferrari, his first victory. Second was local hero Paul Frère in another Ferrari, with a shared drive of Cesare Perdisa and Stirling Moss in a Maserati taking third.
Polesitter Juan Manuel Fangio retired while leading on lap 23, when the gearbox on his Lancia-Ferrari broke.
