The 1954 Berlin Grand Prix was a non-championship event, held on September 19. Intended as a celebration of the championship won by Mercedes driver Juan Manuel Fangio, the Silver Arrows dominated the first race on the AVUS circuit in the modern era. Fangio led from the pole, and set the fastest lap, but backed off near the end to give victory to teammate and German driver Karl Kling. Fangio finished half a second back, and the other Mercedes of Hans Herrmann was another 0.4 seconds behind.

Gordini driver André Pilette finished fourth, three laps down.
