The 1947 Italian Grand Prix was a Grande Épreuve, held on September 7. The race was run on a street circuit in the Portello district of Milan, due to repairs to the Autodromo Nazionale Monza not being completed. The circuit was laid out mostly around a park and fairground, near the old Alfa Romeo factory.
The race was won by Carlo Felice Trossi, who managed to beat Achille Varzi by two car lengths. Polesitter Consalvo Sanesi was a lap down in third, and the four top finishers drove Alfa Romeos.
The race was marred by an accident, which killed five spectators. Afterward street racing in Milan was banned by the local council.
