The 1937 Italian Grand Prix was held on September 12 at the Montenero Circuit near Livorna. Polesitter Rudolf Caracciola won a tough battle with Mercedes teammate Hermann Lang less than a second behind at the finish. Bernd Rosemeyer was third in an Auto Union.

Background[]

The race was moved to Montenero from Monza because it was thought the twistier circuit would help Alfa Romeo against the German teams.
