Adrian Sutil (SOO-til; born 11 January 1983 in Starnberg, West Germany) is a German racing driver who last served as the reserve driver for Williams.

He began his career with Spyker in 2007, staying with the team as it changed name to Force India. Ahead of his career debut, Sutil was applauded by future world champion, Lewis Hamilton and former Formula Three teammate to whom he noted "He's a really good driver who taught me a lot when we were together." [1]

He managed to get on the front row at the 2009 Italian Grand Prix (finishing fourth) and had two strong seasons in 2010 and 2011.

However, an incident in a nightclub in Shanghai with Lotus F1 director Eric Lux saw a conviction for grievous bodily harm, and eventually a suspended prison sentence. As a result of these issues, Sutil sat out the 2012 season and was replaced by Nico Hülkenberg.

With Hülkenberg leaving for Sauber for the 2013 season, Sutil rejoined Force India, leading the Australian Grand Prix, his first race back. At the end of the season, Sutil swapped seats with Hülkenberg; however, Sauber's 2014 car, the C33, was poor, and Sutil failed to score any points. Despite claiming he had a contract for 2015, Sauber opted to replace him,[2] and later Sutil moved to Williams as a reserve driver.[3][4] After only one season as the team's reserve driver, he announced that he will not stay in the team for the 2016 season.[5]
